Dalai Lama Tweets

Dalai Lama the spiritual leader has joined the social networking site such as Twitter after he met the founder of the Twitter. He does not use the Twitter for personal messages, but he uses it to post information from his official website. It is amazing that he has 140,000 followers just after two weeks of joining the social networking site. This called POWER.

However, last Friday he used the Twitter to have a direct conversation with people of China, and he also answered some question regarding to the fate of Tibet. In his messages, he criticized the Chinese Policy toward Tibet; and he welcomed the people of China to visit Tibet.

  1. It is amazing how the online social media is influencing spiritual people who always think that technology will affect their beliefs and in this case is helping to spread it. We must pay attention to this entry because if you analyze the history the best marketing people have been those that belong to any religion, if you don’t believe me just compare how many people believe in any religion against how many are atheists.

  5. One of unquestionable benefits of on line social media such as facebook and twitter is their capcity to reach a broad audience and through them the possibility to address personal messages, thoughts, opinions and ideas to as many people as it was unthinkable just a few years ago.
Of course, the drawback is that the sender might not be a spiritual person like the Dalai Lama whose messages, I presume, are aimed at touch the conscience of the people in a positive and constructive way.
The user of these social media could also be a crazy and screwed up guy whose mwssages, opinions and ideas go toward the common good sense and may find in the social media an easy way to find followers as crazy and screwed as him.
As for everything, there are positive and negative aspects associated to the online social media. Maybe more regulation will be needed to prevent a bad use of these forms of communication.
